Chrome – NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID

Ever tried setting up a Nutanix or VMware lab and Chrome just cr*ps out on you? With nonsense like

Your connection is not private

NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID – whatever in God’s name that means!

Attackers might be trying to steal your information from 100.1376.1444406.1444444446 (or whatever) (for example, passwords, messages or credit cards)

100.1376.1444406.1444444446 (or whatever) normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Google Chrome tried to connect to 100.1376.1444406.1444444446 (or whatever) this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be 100.1376.1444406.1444444446 (or whatever), or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Google Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.

You cannot visit 100.1376.1444406.1444444446 (or whatever) at the moment because the website sent scrambled credentials that Google Chrome cannot process. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.

Well, the next time you get this, and know for sure that the site is safe, just type in

thisisunsafe

That needs to be typed in as is on the page – no spaces, no quotes, no fancy voodoo dance either – and this should allow you to proceed. If it doesn’t you’re probably not typing it correctly or the site might be broken for all you know!

But if you are, and it still does not work and you KNOW the site is functional, well the boffins at Google might not like you typing that anymore and might have removed it 🙁 in which case, give Firefox or Safari a try. Yes I am not mentioning Internet Explorer, coz, well – come on man!
