About

Welcome to The vFanatic!

My name is Ayan and this is my blog 🙂 First and foremost, Welcome! And thank you for stopping by!

So who am I? My name is Ayan and I live in Bangalore, India. If my name seems familiar, that’s because prior to this blog, I was the author of vdsyn – a blog that was dedicated to VMware technologies. You will still find the remnants of the old blog scattered around e.g http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2013/01/07/esxi-5-x-host-disconnected-from-vcenter/

So what do I do? Well, I work at Nutanix as a Staff Systems Reliability Engineer (SRE) and prior to this, I was working as a Technical Lead at VMware, and have done stints at e4e, Dell, Mainstay, Cegedim and Transworks prior.

Why this blog? While I primarily work on Nutanix technologies, there are a wide range of topics that interests me, from Photography, to Opensource tools and AI. This blog is a rudimentary attempt at keeping a track of tools, technologies and stuff that interests me!

So anything goes 🙂

But realistically, below are some topics you will find while you are here!

  • Amazon AWS (Fun stuff, really!)
  • GCP (I mean what’s not to like)
  • Azure (Just playing around mostly)
  • Alibaba Cloud (Ali Cloud the new kid on the block!)
  • VMware vSphere Suite (My bread and butter!)
  • Nutanix (Don’t read this blog! – try http://nutanixbible.com/)
  • OpenSource tools (Git/Terraform/Vagrant/Nomad etc) (Let’s Automate Everything! And have fun while we are at it!)

Reading not your forte? (neither is mine, actually) Check this link Youtube

Stressed and need some pictures? Check this link

So as you would have guessed by now, this is not a work-related blog! That was never the intention! The intention here is to try out fun stuff! Things that I can build, destroy, create, and hopefully not bring down AWS or GCP in the process!

After all, life’s all about learning!

So if you have made it thus far, poke around, you might find something you like! And find things I am doing all wrong! Plus, I am pretty sure there are better ways of getting stuff done than how I am going about here! Please help me course correct if you find something glaringly incorrect.

If you find something that irritates you enough to reach out, please do. I can be reached at nath.ayan@gmail.com

In the meanwhile, if you are into reading about what does it mean to be an SRE, try the Google SRE links below!
